Friends, Family, and Loved Ones
As you may know, I am a dancer. From around the age of three I have had a passion for dance, for expressing myself through movement in a way words could never accomplish. This passion carried me through 15 years of dance classes, competitions, and performances. It has driven me to take on numerous styles, such as lyrical, clogging, jazz, hip-hop, technique, and tap, even doing a solo. My love for this activity has taken me to numerous settings and venues around the U.S. It has also helped me make my closest friendships. Although the days dancing in my small, hometown studio are over, my passion remains.
Upon moving to IUPUI, I became aware, through various mentionings, meetings, and emails, about Jagathon. For those of you who do not know what Jagathon is, (I did not prior to moving here) it is a Riley Dance Marathon held here at IUPUI. It is a philanthropic movement that last year raised more than $140,000 in donations for the kids at Riley Hospital for Children. Immediately after hearing of Jagathon I knew I wanted to be involved and volunteer my time and energy for this amazing cause. No longer will I just be dancing for myself, but this year I will be dancing FOR THE KIDS!
I have joined Jagathon as a Special Ceremonies Committee Member. In addition to dancing, I will be working with my classmates to handle the ceremonies in-event; including the Opening Ceremony, Candlelight Ceremony, the Run to Riley, and Closing Ceremony. We will be brainstorming and planning so that everyone will enjoy their time while raising money for the kids!
I am very passionate about my decision to help Riley Hospital and I believe whole-heartedly in the work my classmates and I are doing for this cause. I would love for you to be a part of our success this year. If you’d like to help me as I try to reach my personal funding goal for the kids it would be much appreciated. Jagathon could not be as successful as it is without YOUR help!
